i apologize...

i know i've been absent the past few days.  i had a touch of that dang stomach bug this past weekend.  i'm also working full time hours this week to cover for the girl i work with being on vacation, plus a bunch of other activities going on as well.  just super busy and not much time to blog (or take pictures!).
do not fret, i'm not done with the blog!!  i enjoy doing it just as much as you like reading it, i think, and i love reading everyone's comments :)
i plan on being back on my regular almost daily schedule this weekend :)

lots of pictures, a few words

the backstory:
papa was nibbling on cash's fingers.
this usually makes him smile.  this time not so much.
see the progression...

the backstory:
sometimes we put cash and slade down for their nap in our bed.
they are put on opposite sides.
corey thought both boys had fallen asleep.
slade had other plans.  he worked his way over to cash and decided to wake him up.
cash did not appreciate it.

the backstory:
i'm in love with little boy pjs right now.  these robot ones are a new favorite.
i try to read jagger a couple of stories every night before bed.  i recently have fallen out of the routine of it and i'm trying to start it back up.
jagger loves books and being read to.  i want him to continue to have a love of reading.

today:

  • poor corey got a root canal
  • jagger got a very late nap
  • slade let out huge belly laughs every time i would say big bird
  • cash was his usual pleasant self
  • and i obsessed over what is going to happen in the last book of my favorite series (twilight) which comes out aug 2.  it really is an unhealthy obsession.

i thought wrong

well...i thought we had escaped the sickness before it spread to everyone, but i thought wrong.  today slade came down with the bug.  he has thrown up twice today :(
at least it should be over within the next 24-48 hrs.  Hopefully the rest of the boys won't catch it (again).

check up

****warning****I will be venting in the following paragraph*******

All three boys had well-baby check ups today.  I'm a little irritated with the doctor's office though.  First, our appointment was scheduled for 2:00pm and when we get there, there is a sign saying they are closed until 2:30pm (which is a little frustrating since I took off work early to get there on time).  So we wait.  When we finally get called back, there is a sign posted in the room stating that they will no longer be giving out immunizations.  So our doctor will look them over, but we have to take the kids to the health dept to get their shots, which they only do once a month and we've already missed it for this month.  Also, usually they take all the kids measurements (height, weight, head circumference) and write it down for each one and give it to me.  They did not do that this time, so I didn't get all the stats.  I do know that Jagger is 28 lbs and Slade is 18 lbs, but I do not know how much Cash weighs or anyone's height.  We just changed to this pediatrician when Cash and Slade were born, and I was really happy at first because the facility was so nice compared to our previous pediatricians office, but now I'm not sure that is enough to win us over.  Sometimes I feel like our doctor is a little quick to refer us to specialists.  She is the one that stressed me out over Jagger being autistic.  Now, she's concerned about Slade's sleeping habits and wants to refer us to Akron Children's Hospital for a sleep study.  I don't think so.  And I can't stand the woman that runs the front desk.  Not friendly at all.   I just want to find a doctor that has a nice clean office, with friendly staff, and is thorough with checkups, listens to us, but doesn't go over board with treatments.  Does that kind of doctor exist?  I don't know what to do.
Well, anyways, no shots today, so at least the kids aren't all (extra)cranky.

all better

Phew!  It seems as though everyone is doing ok now.  Jagger didn't have a fever today and he never threw up and Cash is back to normal.  I think my mom is right about Slade possibly teething.  I don't feel any teeth yet, but he is chewing on everything and slobbering like crazy.  And of course there's the cranky factor.  Anyways, I'm glad that the bug passed quickly and we are all doing well :)
On the potty training front, Jagger is doing great.  He loves to sit on the potty and he pees almost every time he's on it.  We need to work on getting him to let us know when he has to go.  Jagger is so funny.  After he's done going, he gets off, flushes and then waves and says goodbye as the water goes down.  I'm going to buy him some big boy underwear (probably this weekend) so that way he can feel the difference between that and a diaper (here is were it starts to get messy!).  I think that we should be able to get him completely potty trained by the time he's 2 1/2.  That's feasible right?  With six months of training?  I guess we'll see.
Here is your picture of the day.  An oldie but goodie.

Down With The Sickness

Methinks my children are all getting sick :(
Yesterday, Cash threw up twice.  Then once again this morning.  Projectile.
He also has a fever.
Today, Jagger woke up from his nap with a fever.  He has been listless and whiny.  bleh.
I blame vbs and all those little kids with grubby, grimey hands.
One of the ladies at work told me that there is a stomach bug going around.  I hope it's only a 48 hr bug (or less!).
So far Slade is just his usual self.  Cranky.
Pray that he doesn 't get sick.  And for Corey too, since he seems to catch everything as well.

And of course here is a picture, since it doesn't really seem like the post is complete without one:

love the pudge :)

the battle with Please

I can not get Jagger to say please for anything.  He says thank you all the time, correctly and without being prompted.  Ask him to say please and he flat out refuses.
We get two responses when we ask him to say please:
1.  No
2.  Yay!
Apparently, Jagger has decided that when he is asked to say please, it means he is going to get what he wants and therefore is already celebrating.
Sometimes we go back and forth for a few minutes:

Jagger:  more?!
me: whatdya say Jagger?
Jagger:  No
me:  say please
Jagger:  Yay!
Me: no jagger, say please first.
Jagger: No
Me: please say please Jagger.
Jagger: Yay!

and on and on, until I give in.  I think it's going to come down to a battle of the wills.  I WILL WIN.......eventually

I Like Pictures, so here are a few from this weekend.
(I know I skipped blogging Sat & Sun. Bad blogger! Bad!)

hello sweet baby!

My friend Melissa had her little boy Hudson early this morning.
I just came from visiting her at the hospital and I must say he is perfect.
She surprised me by having him about 3 weeks early.  We were going to do some belly pictures this evening.  Oh well, newborn pictures are even better :)
Melissa had a very fast labor & delivery (about 3 hours!) and they both are doing great.
Hudson weighs 4 lbs 14 ounces and is 17 1/2 inches long.
Melissa & Brian are so very happy, and we are so very happy for them.

Congratulations!  He is beautiful :)

BIG NEWS!

Jagger peed in the potty for the first time!!!
He got a potty seat for his birthday.
He's been watching Elmo's potty time dvd.
We've starting putting him on the potty after naps and before bed time.
Tonight before his bath I set him on the potty and he sat there for a few minutes and then just went!! :)
Of course I was super happy, so I was clapping and shouting "yay!" and telling him what a good boy he was.  So then he was excited and happy too!
Then he got up and flushed it (which he thinks is super fun).
I know we still have a long journey to go before he is actually potty trained, but this was a great first step :)

here are some pictures from today -- playing outside :)

I was trying to get a specific effect with the sun, but it didn't work :(

playing with the ball again :)

and of course when it was time to come in, this face again.
this meltdown was pretty short lived at least.
toddlers have such strong emotions.
I'm thinking of starting a project.  It will be titled 30 days of meltdowns.  I'll just take a picture of the meltdown of the day (Lord knows he has one every day!) and list what caused it and post it on the blog.  whatdya think?  ;)
