whew!

well, we are alive.  i must say that last week was wretched.  but now we are past the flu, and things are looking better.  corey, slade, and i have moved on to having regular run-of-the-mill colds and cash and jagger seem to be normal.  well, as normal as they can get.  hmm... what has happened that i need to update you guys on?  let's see...
1.  cash started walking.  thursday.  i was home sick, laying (lying?) on the couch, and i thought i was hallucinating because he just walked right across the room, like he's been doing it all his life.  i'm shocked.  i thought for sure that slade would be walking first, especially since cash didn't ever even want to practice walking with us, but he's been tottering around the house ever since thursday.  and you can see on his face that he is just so proud of himself.  i'm sure slade will be walking soon, too.
2.  jagger is getting tubes in his ears this thursday.  we had an appointment with our pediatrician yesterday, and were referred to an ear, nose, throat specialist because jagger (still) has fluid in his ears.  we were able to get right in with the ENT doc and schedule the surgery.  both the pediatrician and ENT doc believe that jagger can hear (which we knew), but that it's muffled for him and that would explain his speech delay and the strange pronunciations of the words he does say.  so i'm glad that we are getting this done.  how nice it will be for him to hear clearly!  he won't know what to think :)
3.  corey is the proud owner of an accordion.  it is a birthday present from his parents.  tom and terry were up to visit yesterday and brought his birthday present with them.  can i just say hilarious?!  he was very surprised, and i know there must be a story as to why an accordion, but i don't know what it is.  my accordion boy.  he's been filling the house with some pretty mournful music, though.  he needs to learn some peppy tunes.  the boys are super interested in it and it's been fun watching them all play with it together.  how many people do you know can say they have and can play an accordion?  we take pride in our quirkiness :)
his reaction when he opened the case
the accordion is all it's glory

Three things that are true or otherwise known facts to only me:

1: Happy birthday to you corey, the accordian is frickin' sweet. very very very (yes, 3x) jealous.

2: cash had it in him the whole time, I knew it.

3: I miss the heck out of all of you. real bad.

Ok here's the accordion story:

Andy & Corey were in their teens & playing in this rock band. One day Corey & I spot an accordion at a yard sale. He was smitten: totally & completely. He had visions of performing at Madison Square Garden, striking a Mic Jagger pose, and pulling out the accordion for a ripping solo that would make Jimmy Page weep in envy.

My response: "I'm not paying $75 for a stage prop"

Sooooo... 15 yrs later... the accordion dream comes true.

Now all that is left is the bowling shoes (another story for another time)
